Infusion Mindfulness 2023 Workshop Descriptions:
The New Science of Stress: We’ve all heard about the negative impacts of stress, but have you heard that stress can actually be good for you? This workshop explores the newest findings in stress research including the positive aspects of stress, how we can “get better at stress”, and how changing your view about stress can make you happier, healthier and more resilient overall.
Relax, Unwind, & De-Stress!: This workshop is an introduction to stress reduction. Learn about the biology of stress and how we can consciously activate our relaxation response through simple, easy to use techniques. Leave with tools that can be used in your everyday life.
Meditation for Relaxation: Meditation can be an invaluable tool for reducing stress and increasing well-being. If you have ever been curious about what exactly meditation is (and is not) or if you have tried to meditate and found it difficult to do, this introductory workshop is for you! First, we will explore the history, types of, and benefits of meditation and then you will have the opportunity to experience being guided through a deeply relaxing meditation practice.
Stress Reduction for the Holidays: Do you find the holidays stressful? For many the holiday season is a time of rushing around with too much to do, over-eating, family tension and stress. Take a break from the hectic holiday pace and learn how the practice of mindfulness, gratitude and simple relaxation techniques can reduce stress and put the joy back in the holiday season. In this workshop, we will learn and practice simple relaxation techniques, explore how the practice of mindfulness can change your experience, participate in a guided gratitude practice and learn additional helpful tips to keep stress at bay and create new traditions for a more meaningful holiday.
Tips for Times of Overwhelm: Too much on your to-do list? Lots going on in life? Feel like you are barely treading water trying to cope with it all? Learn effective strategies that will help you find calm with in the storm, reduce stress and manage times of overwhelm.
Mindful Eating Series:
Mindful Eating: Explore the intersection of mindfulness, eating behaviors, and our relationship to food. Compassionately explore and understand the physical, emotional, and environmental factors that can influence our food decisions and patterns with the intention of increasing awareness and creating a healthy balanced relationship with food.
Mindful Eating Part II: In this workshop we will take a deeper look at the physical, emotional, and environmental factors that can influence our food decisions and eating patterns by exploring the 7 types of hunger. Increase your eating awareness and learn how we can use mindfulness to help us establish a new, more balanced relationship with food.
The Whys of Willpower: Many people struggle with sticking to their goals and often find it challenging to follow through with improving their diet, exercising regularly and trying to change unhealthy habits. In this workshop, we will look at the science behind what is happening in the brain when we struggle with willpower and learn research-based strategies for increasing self-regulation and resisting temptation.
Nutrition for Resiliency: Your body is a battery & nutrition is your fuel. Eating a balanced nutrient dense diet is essential to maintaining our energy levels and creating a strong immune system. There is a lot of info out there on how & what we “should” eat, and this can often feel overwhelming & confusing. Instead, this workshop will focus on how food impacts our body & how to make tiny, yet powerful, tweaks to our diet that can increase our overall well-being.
Mindfulness Series:
Mindfulness 101: The word “Mindfulness” is popping up in all kinds of places these days, in education, healthcare, corporate board rooms, and even in the NFL and NBA. What exactly is Mindfulness and why practice it? This workshop will give you an overview of Mindfulness including a brief history, benefits (including stress reduction!), and the opportunity to experience a short mindfulness practice.
Simple Mindfulness Practices for Everyday Life: Research shows that practicing Mindfulness reduces stress and increases your well-being. In this workshop, we will do a quick review of the key principles of mindfulness and then learn and practice some simple techniques that will help you incorporate mindfulness into your everyday life.
Mindful Communication: Good communication is essential for healthy relationships. Mindfulness, the practice of non-judgmental awareness, can help us communicate more effectively and meaningfully with others in both our personal and our professional life. In this workshop we will explore what exactly “mindful communication” is and learn some simple strategies that can change how we speak & listen, enhance our relationships, and help us achieve our goals.
Mindful Parenting: Raising a family in today’s fast paced, always plugged in, distracted world can be challenging. Based on the latest research, this workshop will look at how the practice of mindfulness can help us, and our children, build inner resiliency, feel less stressed, more focused and live happier lives. Learn how stress effects the brain as well as mindfulness tools & strategies for parenting that will help you create a more relaxed and happier home.
Mindful Technology Use: Can’t stop looking at your phone? Do you feel that technology has taken over your life? Do you find it hard to disconnect—even in your down time? Learn strategies to take back control and become more mindful about your technology use.
Walking Your Way to Mindfulness: Although walking is an activity we do daily, it is not just a means to get from one place to another or an effective form of exercise—it is also an opportunity to incorporate mindfulness practice into your everyday life. Learn how to cultivate present moment awareness through walking and about the many benefits of mindful walking including how it can help us reduce stress & experience life more fully.
Resiliency Training Series:
Introduction to Resilience: Resiliency is a popular topic these days. We all face adversity, challenges, & setbacks in our lives, often on a day to day basis, whether it is dealing with small frustrations, difficult people, or overwhelming to-do lists. And sometimes our challenges are much bigger. Research has shown that resiliency is a teachable mindset & skill that can impact our well-being, success, productivity, & engagement in the world. In this workshop, we will look at what exactly is resilience, why it matters, and how we can build more of it in our lives.
The Science of Goal Meeting: Learn the science and strategy of how to accomplish your goals, including how to set clear, meaningful goals and proven tools and techniques that can be used to make it more likely that we will achieve what we set out to do and bring about the changes we desire.
The Science of Habit Change: Why are habits so hard to change? How can we create new habits? This workshop will look at habit formation, the habit loop, how cravings work, and how we can transform negative habits and build new, positive habits.
Our Breath as a Tool: Our breath is a resource that is always with us. Learn breathing basics and techniques to help us regulate our thoughts & feelings and how we can impact our own physiology to create greater calm, focus, and well-being.
Mindset Matters: Our Mindset has a powerful impact on our ability to be resilient. Mindset can keep us stuck, focusing on problems in a place of judgement & blame or it can help move us forward, persevere in the face of challenges, allow us to learn & grow from our experiences & keep us solution focused. Learn how to cultivate a Growth Mindset through curiosity & questions as well as mindset tools that help you take charge of your thinking, your emotions, & your behavior in all areas of your life.
All About Sleep: According to the Institute of Medicine, an estimated 50-70 million U.S. Adults have a sleep or wakefulness disorder. Sleep is so essential & yet sometimes so elusive. When we can’t sleep if may be from physical factors, mental & emotional factors or a combination of both. In this workshop we will look at the mechanisms & benefits of sleep, figure out your sleep type, debunk some common sleep myths and look at how can we work with sleep challenges & improve the quality of our sleep.
Gratitude Series:
The Science of Gratitude: Research has shown that practicing gratitude can have an impact on almost every area of our lives. In this workshop, we look at the latest research in the field of gratitude including the many benefits of practice and simple ways we can cultivate more gratitude in our lives.
Gratitude as a Mindfulness Practice: Learn how to counteract our brain’s natural tendency to focus on problems (negativity bias) through the practice of gratitude. Practicing gratitude increases our awareness of the positive in our lives and can also be used as a mindfulness practice. Explore simple techniques to train your attention and shift your thoughts, your perspective, and even your mood in the direction of increased well-being.
